20/52

I really super duper heart this picture. Sitting in a wagon, eating toast and rocking the crazy old guy hair. The crazy old guy hair is on account of girlfriend refusing to keep her hat on, so I had no choice but to slather sunscreen all over her scalp. It was gross, but also veeerrry funny.

I'm not as tired as when I posted last week's picture. Probably because baby girl has developed this new little habit that we like to call "sleeping through the night." It's been a week now so I think that means we can say it's official?

(Cue the angel choir bursting forth from the clouds, singing and playing their harps and tambourines, wings all aflutter!)

!!!!

!

It's nice, we like it.

Hopefully I haven't just jinxed myself by making this grand official announcement.

I'll be posting photos from our Memorial Day weekend here soon! Because obviously, why would I post them the week after the fact when I could instead post them TWO weeks after the fact?

19/52

This week's photo! We went to visit the grave sites of my great grandparents, and Paisley got to walk around with my Aunt Marie.

There's not much else to report right now except that if you need a substitute for eggs when you are making brownies with your sister, mayo is not the answer. Even if the internet says it will work.

Turns out the internet isn't as smart as I thought it was, and that's the truth.

The truth hurts sometimes.

Or in this case, makes really hard brownies.

I'm not sure how much of a smooth read this post is turning in to but you see, I'm just so tired and I'm having a hard time using my brain correctly right now.

It's because even though Paisley slept all the way through the night TWICE this week (well hotdog!) the hubs and I keep making poor bedtime decisions, such as watching too many episodes of Modern Family or doing laundry at midnight.

So even though I feel in the mood to ramble this blog post to death, I think I better quit writing now while I'm ahead. Or behind?

Either way.

Last week's photo!

I apologize for my tardiness.

It's possible that I'm running behind because last week I stumbled upon some old music and then I subsequently found myself singing along to a bunch of Dashboard Confessional songs with all the passion of an angst-ridden teen, while temporarily forgetting about blogging.

"And as for me I wish that I was anywhere, with anyone, making out!"

That line always made me chuckle. You are so silly, emo music.

But it's possible there are other reasons for my tardiness, as well.

Such as the war that I've declared on ants. I WILL defeat them.

Even if it means sweeping up the crumbs of toast that fall underneath my baby girls's high chair five or six times during a meal.

That's a lot of sweeping in a 30 minute time slot so now you can see how serious I am about this.

It's times like these that I wish we were dog people. Then we would have an automatic vacuum and mop who is also furry to keep the ants at bay.

These two are too dignified to gobble up our stray crumbs as they fall.

Unless there are goldfish crackers involved. Then they're all like, "Dignity? Never heard of it. MEEEE WAAAAANT TOOOO EEEEEAT CHEEEEEESY FIIIIIIIIISHHHH".

Birthday/Mother's Day Weekend!

This past weekend was a blast and a half.

First up! We had the hubs' birthday. To celebrate his journey into what I'm calling extreme adulthood (28 folks. Look out.) we went to Nickelodeon Universe at the Mall of America. To go on rides! To remind us of our youth. To irritate our poor, aging stomachs.

Our youthful evening included screaming and laughing on speedy roller coasters, waiting in lengthy lines amongst throngs of middle schoolers, trying out the new Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles ride (the hubs loudly sang the TMNT theme song the whole time we were riding this one, as was his prerogative, being the birthday boy), pondering the fact that the turtles are not only mutant ninjas but also TEENAGERS, going on the haunted ghost ride where you get to shoot the bad guys with laser guns (and as you can see from the picture above the hubs beat me by literally almost 1,000 points), and talking about how very tired and worn out we were.

My double dose of Dramamine lasted me about six or seven rides before it completely gave up and I declared myself unfit for any more shenanigans. But luckily I didn't puke, which is more than I can say for the last time we were there!

...

THEN! It was Mother's Day. My first one, positively. And it was filled with bright colors, tulips and sunshine, as a first Mother's Day should be.

After church and small group we headed over to my Grandma's house where the rest of the day was spent eating delicious food, getting my first Mother's Day corsage, squishing Paisley's squishy cheeks with kisses until she was completely squished and then passing her on to the next potential cheek squisher, and playing fun games.

Such good things to make up such a great weekend.

And how was yours?

17/52

Wait, who stole my tiny baby and replaced her with this huge one?

Guess how many times I got dressed to go to the gym so far this week.

3!

Guess how many times I actually made it to the gym before changing back out of my gym clothes.

Only once but BEFORE YOU SAY ANYTHING, just remember that it's the thought that counts.

Other things that happened this week (in list form because lists are my happy place):

- Paisley got her first taste of what it's like to dig in the dirt (since our lawn has more dirt than grass right now.) She is a fan, so good thing she is also a fan of baths.

- I remembered that snickerdoodles exist so I made some and then ate most of them.

- I forgot to press the release button on our sink sprayer hose device as I was trying to put it back in it's hole, so I sprayed myself and the whole kitchen. That was a shining moment for me.

- I did more loads of laundry than I wish to recall.

- The hubs and I decided to start watching Fringe on Netflix, but then decided to stop after two episodes because we didn't want to be afraid for the rest of our lives.

- I FINALLY bought some more bird seed for our very neglected bird feeder. Bring it on birds! I want to watch you eat.

Well it's been real folks but I have to go change into my gym clothes now.

16/52

This pic is in contrast to last week's.

Swinging can't be all thrills, you know. Especially when nap time is looming on the horizon!

Here are the things I don't want to talk about today. Spring, Summer, Winter, the fact that it snowed today, the fact that it is MAY 3RD and it snowed today, the weather in general, the fact that I've been putting off grocery shopping all morning and afternoon because of how much I loathe the idea of going outside, the number of pizza rolls I ate for lunch, or the fact that my awesome cat face iphone cover is chipping. Or politics. Politics are the worst.

On the other hand, here are some things deemed acceptable for today's conversation! Garage sale season, Arrested Development's new episodes soon to hit Netflix, any holidays or months that take place in the fall, kittens, how cute my baby is, Harry Potter, funny looking birds, and "Let's have spaghetti and garlic bread for dinner. And brownies. Fine, and also salad."

I'm sorry that the things to not talk about list is longer than the things to talk about list.

I'm sure we can make it work though.

Instagram Dump - Take Two

Some of the latest photos from my Instagram stream, as well as a couple from the hubs'!

You should really only follow me on Instagram if you especially like pictures of cats and babies.

In breaking news, our camera is back! The hubs found it in some couch cushions. Hopefully it still works after being sat on since February.

I don't know if it does yet because I can't find the charger.
