Daily Animal Doodle
Day 5 - Orangutan
Ok. Orangutans = hard to draw! This was the first of the doodles that took more than one try. I started off trying to do an old man orangutan with lots of wrinkles but he was starting to look like an overly tired Frankenstein. Who was about to eat you. Even the hubs thought he was scary.
So I went with a little guy. And even he looks like a bit of a creeper.

Llama Doodle
Here we have day 4 of the Daily Animal Doodle started up by Andrea at Paper Sparrow. (Her llamas have socks on - so funny!)
I posted about seeing these guys last weekend at Camp Forest Springs, and have been excited about the excuse to draw one of them since I saw them on the list!
But, turns out llamas are hard to draw.
Plus I always do lots of details around the face, and never feel like doing more details for the rest of the body.
faces = fun to draw
bodies = boring to draw
I guess he looks about as good as any llama. Which if I know llamas, is usually not that good.
Anyway, I am really just loving this Daily Doodle thing so far. It's great to be drawing every day, even if it's just a quick sketch. And even if some of them aren't quite so successful!
Good news - I found my pencil sharpener.
Other good news...I finally got my shop open!

A Grand Day
My etsy shop is open! Have a looksie. More prints will be coming soon. Stationary and notecards are also part of the plan down the line.
If you look around the shop, you may think that the only things I ever intend to sell are mostly bird related. If you are a bird hater you can rest assured that I will be listing non-bird items as well. And they shall make their appearance soon enough.
And yes, bird haters do exist. I never thought it possible myself until meeting two of my very dear friends - Jacki and Jorgen. Bird haters to the very core. Maybe that's why they are so close? They have a common bond of hate. Towards birds.
But I still choose to love them. Because love is a choice and not an emotion.
What? Anyway, the shop is open, and I'm happy. Weeeeeeeeeeeeeee!
Now I just have to figure out Etsy circles.

Pig Doodle
Daily Animal Doodle
Day 3 - Pig
Yes this pig is inspired by my piggy bank. Which is empty. I'm a big girl now so I use real banks.
The small pig child was the hubs' contribution. I allowed it.
In other news, I need to find my pencil sharpener.

Inspiration from the hubs
I decided to hop on board with the Inspiration Workshop over at Gussy Sews. (This is my first time ever joining a linky party! Is it painfully obvious how new to this I am??)
Anyway. Gussy has a weekly photo prompt that is to be completed and posted every Thursday. This week's prompt was Handmade.
I know that I can find photos on the internet to use if I so desire, but I think I will really try and take all my own photos for every week, because my photos generally are very lacking. In other words my photos are bad. In yet other words I'm not a photographer. I depend on the hubs for his mad photo skizzelz. But I really want to improve my own so here we go.
So. Handmade. I decided to take this opportunity to brag on the hubs a little bit. This is his bouldering cave in our basement. His HANDMADE bouldering cave. It's pretty awesome, complete with crazy cool artwork drawn on it.
Brian is an inspiration to me because once he decides to do something, he DOES it. With no worrying, no second guessing, no doubting himself. He wanted a bouldering cave in our basement so he built one. I am not this way. I worry, I second guess, I doubt, I put it off. Which is why it is taking me so long to open my Etsy shop!!! (But it WILL be done by this weekend! I am telling you. It will be.) My goodness.
Thanks for the inspiration, hubsy. You are just the type of man that I need in my life.

Bear Doodle
Ok I ALMOST forgot about the Daily Animal Doodle that Andrea at Paper Sparrow is starting. And that I signed up to do it. When she first blogged about it I thought to myself, "my that sounds like so much fun." And then it flew my mind. Until tonight, when I checked my google reader before I was about to go to bed.
Wait. It's June 1st?
And I need to have a bear doodle posted today?
(mad scrambling)
Well here is the first of my animal doodles! I admit that in my haste I just took a picture of the sketch - hopefully in the future I will make time to scan them! Anyway, this guy is inspired by a stuffed bear named Long Bottom who used to sleep in my bed with me. Once I got married my husband kicked him out of the bed. Now he lives in the closet.

I think this will be a really fun project and am so glad I remembered! I think I will end up publishing this just into the wee morning hours of June 2nd but hey, I was so close to making it in time.
